Sophie-Therese Trenka-Dalton is a visual artist based in Berlin. Her practice is rooted in artistic research, focusing on cultural history and its contemporary reception. She develops long-term projects, combining sculpture, photography, video, artifacts, and research material in her architectural installations.
She studied fine art at the University of the Arts Berlin and Cooper Union in New York City. Her work has been exhibited and screened internationally, including at venues such as the Garage Arts Platform, Enna, Sicily; Haus der Kulturen der Welt, Berlin; after the butcher, Berlin; Kochi Biennale Foundation, Kochi, India; Neuer Berliner Kunstverein, Berlin; KW Institute for Contemporary Art, Berlin; Heidelberger Kunstverein, Heidelberg; Cinema Akil , Dubai; Serpentine Gallery, London; Fondation d’Entreprise Ricard, Paris; and Harris Lieberman Gallery, New York.
Trenka-Dalton has held artist lectures at the University of the Arts Berlin; 1Shanti Road, Bangalore; the Gulf Research Meeting , University of Cambridge, UK; nGbK, Berlin; Sharjah Art Foundation; and the American University of Sharjah. Her projects have received grants from the Berlin Senate Department for Culture, Stiftung Kunstfonds Bonn, DAAD, and the Goethe Institutes in the Gulf Region and Bangalore.
In 2021, she curated and produced the video series The Sky was the Limit – Art and Astronomy at the Archenhold Observatory in cooperation with the Stiftung Planetarium Berlin.
