Lama Hasan
Lama Hasan is a Landscape Architect, Community Design Strategist, and Adjunct Professor at City College New York . She is inspired by the resilience of communities and nature amidst evolving political, social, and environmental landscapes. As a Palestinian-American, her work is rooted in healing across both invisible and literal borders—whether political, cultural, or physical—reconnecting land and people through narratives of resilience, hope, and joy.
Hasan’s practice spans transforming neglected urban sites into vibrant public spaces, restoring cultural heritage river sites threatened by extraction, and designing for educational institutions and community groups focused on youth development, agricultural practices, affordable housing, and public art.
She has contributed to prominent projects such as the National Air and Space Museum, the National Museum of Natural History, and the Owámniyomni project —an Indigenous-centered initiative reimagining Minneapolis’s industrial waterfront. Through design, she engages with histories, ecologies, and communities to shape spaces that acknowledge the past, heal the present, and empower the future.
