Ayfer İdil Kemaloğlu

Ayfer İdil Kemaloğlu graduated from Politecnico di Milano, faculty of architecture, completed her master’s degree at École Nationale Supérieur d’Architecture, and her art education at Beaux-Arts Lyon. She is a member of AICA Tr and Maison des Artistes. She curated ephemeral exhibitions by transforming a historical bar she restored in Paris into a living art space. She completed the Curating contemporary art formation organized by Akbank Sanat and Acık Dialog with her project titled Genius Loci – Juno. 

Her architecture master’s thesis Les nouveaux musées: vers un changement de paradigme (new museums: paradigm change in museology); examines the relationship between art, architecture and humans in the 21st century through case studies from Center Pompidou, Guggenheim Bilbao and Fondazione Prada, bringing an alternative definition for museums. For the cities Val Taleggio, Arles and Lyon; she created installations that showcase historical, artistic, cultural and architectural heritage within cabinet(s) of curiosities. Idil Kem, who carries biomimicry and biophilia issues into her works, was invited as a speaker to Milan design week. 

Her work was exhibited at the Wraclow Museum of Architecture together alongside the utopists, Rem Koolhaas, Superstudio and Paolo Soleri. She took part as a cultural mediator in the Leonardo Da Vinci exhibition at the Louvre museum and Christo – Jeanne Claude’s Arc de Triomphe Wrapped art installation. 

She is now organizing cultural, artistic and architectural children’s workshops at the Paris Montessori kindergarten. She is the curator and artist of the exhibition Journey Around the Lichens, part of an Art and Science collaboration, working with scientists from Sorbonne University.
