Özgül Kahraman organizes art gatherings within the scope of her right-based project, Beyond Seeing

Özgül Kahraman‘s rights-based project Beyond Seeing, which is advancing towards becoming an art initiative, centers around addressing art accessibility inequality. The project operates on the belief that art should be accessible and inclusive for everyone. It is observed that individuals with visual impairments are disadvantaged in accessing art, much like in many public spaces. This disparity becomes even more pronounced when it comes to visual arts.

The artist is initiating the event series Beyond Seeing: Art Gatherings as part of the project. The gatherings aim to draw attention to the disadvantaged situation of individuals with visual impairments in accessing art while intending to turn this disadvantage into an advantage as much as possible. The event, designed for young people with visual impairments, is realized as an art workshop inspired by historical and cultural elements.

The project comes to life with the support of Culture Civic and efforts of a broad volunteer team.
