Ephemeral, the new video work by RAW, which is an artist duo that blends raw sound and image materials with live coding method and turns them into unique performances, is a piece the duo produced based on another improvisation. Stating that their works are a reflection of the temporal and volatile state of their experience while improvising on the stage, the duo stay away from repetitions, although they do not hesitate to re-interpret their songs in different ways.
The founders of RAW, Selçuk Artut and Alp Tuğan, have been working on contemporary art and creative technologies, and performing sound and visual performances for a long time, as well as continuing their artistic careers separately. Invited by Gate 27 in June 2020, RAW produced their work Ephemeral, in which they used original images they produced with the software they designed, in the Ayvalık residency. Gate 27 and RAW donated the income of this creative process to Yedikule Animal Shelter.
