Medine İrak’s Solo Exhibition “Beyond Borders” is at Simbart Projects
Medine İrak’s second solo exhibition, Beyond Borders, is on view at Simbart Projects from 12 September – 1 November 2025.
The exhibition opens a dialogue around the human relationship with nature, its connection to urban memory, and forms of representation in public space, using the bird as a central symbol. Focusing on birds not merely as natural beings but as carriers of freedom, memory, and collective consciousness, the installation highlights the fragile and often romanticized relationship between humans and nature through symbols such as bird nests and bird palaces.
Reinterpreting the human–nature relationship through spatial theory, posthumanist thought, and eco-art practices, the exhibition considers migration as a marker not only of changing seasons but also of shifts in memory, politics, and belonging. By inviting viewers to adopt the bird’s perspective—thinking freely, from above—it encourages a symbolic dialogue between nature and memory.
